Despite a host of new hotel openings on the horizon in Bangkok, wholesale tour operators said long-term relationships with existing hotels would be honoured and anticipated price undercutting, if any, would only be at a healthy, competitive level, not at a price-war rate. They added Bangkok hotels were already offering rock-bottom room rates so it did not make any sense for the rates to plunge further, and at the same time it was unlikely the rates would increase to a significant level.

Bangkok-based Kuoni Group contracting manager, Mr Andre van der Marck, said Bangkok hotels offered extremely good value-for-money rates.
